FAQS
How long is a therapy session?
Each IFS or Havening Techniques therapy session lasts 60 minutes.
Each Hypnotic Regression Therapy Session lasts between 120 to 180 minutes. For that reason, I ask you to block off a full 3 hours in your calendar for a session to ensure you are not rushed. It is also preferable to have nothing to do the day of your session to allow yourself time to process the outcome of our session.
What if I think I already know the reasons behind my issue?
What makes the therapy I offer amazing is that even if you think you know the reason, you see it in a COMPLETELY new way. That’s what allows you to change the meaning and ultimately, change your beliefs. And for many clients they discover meanings that are different than what they expected. Just relax and trust that your subconscious mind will show and tell you exactly what it needs you to see and know.
What if I uncover something I don't want to share?
If you don't want to share or disclose something, you don't need to. As long as you can tell me how the unnamed event or incident makes you feel, then the outcome of the therapy session will be just as successful. So, you can keep the details of the event to yourself as long as you are happy to discuss the feelings and beliefs you attach to this event.
Am I assured of confidentiality?
Absolutely, all my clients are assured of confidentiality about any disclosed material, in accordance with professional codes of ethics. I do not contact other practitioners or doctors whose care you may also be under, without your permission.
Do you do couples or children's therapy?
No, I only offer therapy sessions to individual adults over the age of 18yrs.
How many therapy sessions will I need?
The exact number of sessions you will need varies depending on your individual circumstances. For IFS and/or The Havening techniques therapy - clients typically attend somewhere between eight to twenty four sessions. However, depending on your presenting issue and how deep a dive you wish to take, some clients continue in therapy for several years. For Hypnotherapy clients, again it depends on the presenting issue but most clients attend between 1 - 6 sessions.
What if I'm too afraid to revisit painful and scary episodes in my life?
If we delve into areas of your life that are related to things like sexual or physical abuse, or other trauma, it’s important to remember that you are not reliving it any longer, you are simply reviewing it and that you are safe and in a safe environment. I will support you and create a safe and calm space for you to express your emotions and heal the wounds of the past.
HYPNOSIS RELATED FAQS:
When will I start to see a difference?
There are typically 3 types of change– just remember that every person is different.
The three types of change are:
-
Immediate. You feel a massive shift right away – immediate changes in your physiology, thoughts and behaviors right after the session.
-
Incremental. You see consistent shifts every day over several weeks and months.
-
Retroactive. You don’t see the shifts right away and then one day you suddenly look back and see all of the things that are different in your life.
What does it feel like to be hypnotised?
You already know what it feels like because you experience it almost every day. Do you know that feeling when you have driven home from work but you cannot quite remember the exact details of the commute home or those moments when you literally drift off into a daydream? These are all pleasant dreamlike states that feel very similar to the hypnotic state I intentionally bring you into during our session. It is perfectly safe and simply allows me to communicate directly with your subconscious mind so we can quickly and easily get to the root cause of your issue. Most people feel deeply relaxed, calm and at ease.
Can I get “stuck” in hypnosis?
No! That’s an old wives tale. You have complete control the whole time. You can talk, move your body, get a tissue, even get up and leave – (although that has never happened). You cannot be made to do anything against your will. You simply drift into a calm, relaxed, meditative state but all the while you are completely in control. Remember, this is your experience and you own it. I am there simply to facilitate you.
